Recently two good friends of mine,
Michelle and Ollie,
visited Milland Pottery in Hampshire...

They had a great day out creating their own handmade pottery, using earthenware clay on a potter's wheel... Then colouring their handcrafted items with coloured slips and glazing them...

Wilderness Festival... Felting...

Felt Making at Wilderness Festival

Last weekend myself and my husband Namik visited 'The Wilderness Festival' in Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire...
It was a fantastic day full of excellent music, great food and drink, and even crafting!..

There were many crafters running different workshops throughout the day...
We visited Emma Fountain's Felt Making tent, in the Green Crafts field...

You could make lots of different felt creations in the workshop... I decided to have a go at felt flower making...

Namik even got involved... trying his hand at felt covered soap...

There was an abundance of different coloured felting wools and various bits & bobs to help you make your creation...

 The final result...

My pretty felted flower...

Namik's fantastic felted soap...

We had a brilliant time at the festival... and really enjoyed the 'Felt Making' workshop...
Thank you Emma!!!

We even bought some felting materials to try it ourselves at home... Keep an eye on the blog!

Emma Fountain visits many different music festivals, art festivals and country shows throughout the year, carrying out her felting workshops... she also runs a variety of different courses...
Check out Emma's website for more info...

Summer Orange Juice...

Hand Pull Juicer - Secondhand Shop
Glass - Anthropology home

Bowl - Vintage

I love this hand-pull orange juicer picked up from a local secondhand shop...

Fresh orange juice takes a little work but it tastes so much better than orange juice from a carton... Simply take four jucing oranges, cut each in half and press...

A delicious and refreshing drink for the Summer...

Mollie Makes... Issue 1...

As you might remember from my last Mollie Makes post... I missed out on issue 1...

I asked you, my fantastic blog readers, to leave a comment if you had any ideas where I could get my hands on one, or even if someone would like to donate me their copy of Mollie Makes issue1... I received some great ideas and thoughts from you all on where to get my own copy... but unfortunately I could still not find a paper copy of the mag...

Image - from Mollie Makes magazine

Then... a lovely lady called Elizabeth, living in America contacted me and said she had a copy of Mollie Makes issue1 that she would be happy to donate to me!...

Image of Paula Mills home tour page - from Mollie Makes magazine

One of Elizabeth's favorite sections in Mollie Makes issue1 is the 'Paula Mills (Lovely Sweet William) home tour'... she especially loved the hand made heart cushion on page 43...
However Elizabeth had been unsuccessful in contacting 'Lovely Sweet William' to order a cushion of her own...

I helped to put Elizabeth in touch with Shelley Gardner (the other half of Lovely Sweet William, working together with Paula Mills) who makes the fantastic heart cushions...
Together the crafty pair draw, blog and create beautiful items for their online shop...
Check out 'Lovely Sweet William' on Etsy...

I would like to say a big thank you to Elizabeth who kindly donated me her copy of Mollie Makes issue1... I absolutely love it!... I hope you managed to successfully order your 'handmade heart cushion' from 'Lovely Sweet William'...

Birthday Treats...

Today it is my wonderful husband's birthday...
So I thought I would dedicate my post to him...

Nutty Chocolate Cake -
Made by daffodils & snowdrops

To make this cake I used  Nigella's Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake recipe...
I then toasted a mixture of pistachio, almond and pecan nuts for 5minutes in the oven at approx 160°C (fan oven)...
Once cool, I roughly chopped the nuts and sprinkled on the top and edges of the cake..

Chocolate Rocky Roads -
Made by daffodils & snowdrops

This delicious Chocolate Rocky Road recipe is taken from Jamie Oliver's Monster Bake Sale Cookbook... If you would like to it try out, the recipe can be found on NetMums...

My husband Namık is a great lover of nuts and chocolate... so I decided to make two chocolaty nutty treats for his birthday... My adapted version of Nigella's Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake... and Jamie's Chocolate Rocky Road... Both recipes were a success and I would definitely recommend you try them out... just click on the links above for the recipes...

How to gift wrap... the manly way...

I tried to gift wrap Namıks presents in a 'manly' style... however I am sure not many men would wrap presents themselves in this way :)
For the gift wrap I used brown paper, decorated with a mixture of black and stone coloured ribbons, with buttons and fabric covered luggage labels...

Happy Birthday
Have a fantastic day Namık!!!

If you try out any of the ideas above let me know how you get on by posting you comments below... alternatively you can tweet or fb your comments...
I would love to hear from you...

Country Cushions...

Fabric Remnant - Laura Ashley

Floral Cushions - Handmade by daffodils & snowdrops

Make your own country style cushions from pretty fabric off-cuts and remnants...

Many home furnishing shops sell small off-cuts of fabric... The fabric I used above is from Laura Ashley Home... Using fabric remnants is a cheap way to make charming cushions or other country home accessories...

To make your own tab cushions; First choose your cushion pad size and cut two fabric squares to fit... Prepare the facing for the edge of your cushion and the fabric for your tie tabs... Then sew it all together... Take a look at your local library for some good books on home accessory and cushion making...

daffodils & snowdrops would love to hear your thoughts, so please leave a comment below...
